Dr. Seuss's birthday is March 2nd. We put up a bulletin board outside our classroom and asked everyone in the school to vote which of the four posted books was their favorite. They will vote by taking a Post-it note from the envelope below the book cover and placing it on the board. I plan on stapling them to make sure they don't fall off. My students will analyze the data and make graphs. We will share the results with the school. I think the kids will enjoy it.
I took this idea I got from Pinterest and adapted it.

Dr. Seuss Here, There, Everywhere!

My classroom theme this year is Dr. Seuss and I love it! I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
The border and character pictures came from the dollar section at Target!
I had never put border around my door before but now I doubt I will ever go without it.

I found the alphabet flash cards I used for the Word Wall at Target too. Only one dollar.

One of my favorite Dr. Seuss activities is to make Oobleck. I give groups of 3 the recipe and necessary measuring devices and they make it theirselves.

My daily helper dictates the daily news to me and we record it here. I make sure to make mistakes for the kids to catch *teachable moments*

I wanted a welcoming room.

I found these plates for a ollar each at Target too. I attached them with command strips

Organizing for Substitutes

I keep all the papers for the week organized into a hanging file, one for each day monday-friday. One thing I did to make the day easier for my subs was to make labels that I clip onto my papers in my hanging file. Since each week follows the same routine I have laminated labels. I keep them right beside my hanging file and when I am putting the papers for the upcoming week into the correct files I simply slide the label under the paperclip. They have directions and explanations for the papers. I like known when I have to call off unexpectedly, that this is always in place for my sub.

I want to print these again on colored paper, just haven't found that extra time yet.
I hope you enjoy this idea. I will share my sub binder and other organization tools soon :)
